"The Friends' Hospice Paphos" Support Group
The Friends' Hospice requires approximately €500,000 each year to maintain its unique service to the people of Paphos and the surrounding districts.
Fundraising is the main task of The Friends' Hospice Support Group. Without the involvement of individuals, groups and businesses, we could not continue to provide hospice care.
Community support for the Hospice is vital. There’s always a wide range of fundraising activities going on in the region. Please bookmark us and keep a watch on our events page for what’s on in your area.
Businesses can help the Hospice in many ways, including the holding of workplace fundraising activities and the sponsorship of appeals and individual activities. Can your business help us?
Each year, individuals and local groups become involved to get sponsorship for the Hospice. You can set up your own challenge and help raise necessary funding.
Schools and youth groups across the area also work hard to raise money and awareness for the Hospice. Do you know a school group who could get involved?
More than a hundred outlets have one of our collection boxes. Please contact us and find out how you can get a Friends’ Hospice box for yourself.
From single gifts to regular donations, there are many ways you can assist the work of The Friends’ Hospice.
Many people choose to honour the memory of a loved one by donating to the Hospice. Contact us to find out more.
Mentioning The Friends’ Hospice in your Will can help its funding. Whatever the size of donation, your gift will help to keep the hospice running.
In whatever way you can, please help us to help others.
Volunteers are essential for everything we do.
Some assist patients directly in our Inpatient Unit in the Hospice. Others help to raise the €500,000 needed each year to keep the Hospice running. They do this by working in our shops, being part of our fundraising group or by organising their own charity events.
Some of our volunteers work every week, others help whenever they can spare a few hours.
However you choose to help, you will make a real difference to local people in need, as well as making new friends, learning new skills and often uncovering talents you never realised you had!
Becoming a volunteer is easy. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome. If you can help in one of our shops, or organise an event, big or small, please contact Sue Young on 97799788 and Jane Webb on 99878491.
If you are a qualified care worker and would like to work in our Hospice, please telephone Ann Hill on 99162109.
Giving just a little of your time would mean a lot to us.
The Friends' Hospice Paphos Shops
The Friends’ Hospice has shops in Kato Paphos, Pissouri, Chloraka Polis and Geroskipou.
Our shops are Aladdin’s cave filled with real treasures, well worth a visit. Items offered for sale include ladies, gents and children’s clothes, books, CDs, household items, linens, bric-a-brac and much more. Furniture is available at our larger Kato Paphos, Chloraka and Polis shops. We also have a range of seasonal products. Watch out for our Christmas calendars and cards.
All of our shops are run by teams of loyal volunteers. They pride themselves on delivering first class customer service and merchandising our shops to a very high standard.
All of the stock for sale is carefully checked and selected in order to maintain the high standards we are known for. If you have never shopped in a Charity shop, or visited your local Friends’ Hospice shop now is the time.
We rely on donations to keep our shops full so if you have clothes or household items that you can donate to us, please bring them to the shop during opening hours.
We have a collection service for large items if you cannot get them to the shops yourself. Just call your nearest shop.
These take place at the Grande Restaurant and bar in Pegeia on the first Wednesday of each month and at the Old School in Armou on the last Wednesday of each month.
We always need the latest books especially crime/thrillers. Children’s books are also welcome. For further information telephone 99332974
